"As a musician I often require the use of special tools for the specific needs of my music. For one such project I needed a special electric guitar that had some sort of strong link with a more traditional instrument like the viola da gamba. It should however go beyond tradition and sport a more contemporary quality. I carefully researched the market for that kind of instrument although I knew that I needed a very special instrument that would probably have to be custom built. I did find a selection of instruments that more or less corresponded to my needs but only Jonathan Wilson's design seemed close to what I had in mind. The guitarviol (that's the name of Jonathan's model) is the product of the knowledge, careful research and development that you'd expect from such an innovative concept and included all the features that I needed. No mean feat because this is highly complex instrument! In the end after a nervous wait I received my guitarviol which is now part of my usual set of tools of trade. The guitarviol is without any doubt one of the more innovative instruments I have seen. More than that: it is a wonderful concept fully matured and masterfully created."
